A visit to Las Vegas is always a sure bet. Once
known specifically for its somewhat sinful promiscuity, "Sin City"
today has dulled its edge a bit. The dessert oasis has left more room open for
the entire family, what with the slew of “Playland”-type casinos that have
cropped up over the years, as well as several other family oriented attractions.
No doubt Vegas still smacks of glitz and glamour and a generally fast-paced
lifestyle, only now it offers a tamer world as well. Most of the action is found
on The Strip (Las Vegas Boulevard), where you'll find all the mega-resorts such
as Paris Las Vegas, MGM, Bellagio and The Venetian, to name a few. Downtown Las
Vegas (the old Strip) is great for serious gaming action, while the casinos
along Boulder Highway are perfect venues for budget-conscious travelers.
